Lutherhaven

The purpose of Lutherhaven is to provide a facility for the use of New Mexico Lutherans for religious creational purposes. The facility is available for all professed Lutherans of the state of New Mexico, including church organizations, congregations, districts, individuals and families, who seek a restful secluded spot for camping, meetings, recreation, and hiking.


History
1971- Calvin and HB Horn donate 10 acres to New Mexico Lutherans on the condition that a building be constructed within 7 years
1972- New Mexico Lutheran Association (NMLA) established to own/manage the retreat
1973- Power/Water established
1974- Main kitchen constructed













1975- First Lutheran Baseball Night with the Dukes





1980- The 480 sq foot "great room" is built for a meeting and sleeping area
1985- An additional 10 acres purchased for $20,000 funded by individual loans from local Lutherans
1989- Two full sized bathrooms with showers built along with hot water heater and a new furnace
1994- "Barney's Bunkhouse" built for additional 615 sq ft of sleeping space
2002- 4,000 acre fire destroys Lutherhaven and surrounding area

















2003- Burnt trees removed














2004- 4,000 trees and grass planted
2006- Pump house and bathroom built
2007- 3 new tent sites built

2009- Over 950 attend Lutheran Baseball Night. Construction begins on new Main Lodge


















2010- 1,000 Lutherans attend Baseball Night in support of Lutherhaven. The first RV      makes its way to the site since the fire. The new Main Lodge makes great progress thanks to the efforts of volunteers and over $50,000 in funds donated.
2012- Lutherhaven receives its official occupancy permit and opens use.
